Lisburn City Council Launches Bin-Ovation App

Lisburn City Council has recently signed up to the Bin-Ovation App, which is revolutionising how people receive information on household recycling across Northern Ireland. This free of charge App, supported by Rethink Waste, is available for smart phones and tablets and is being launched by the Council to assist householders with their recycling. Councillor Jenny Palmer, Chair of the Council’s Environmental Services Committee is pictured promoting the new Bin-Ovation App that the Council has signed up to alongside with Michael Brady, Bin-Ovation creator and Wendy Cooke from the DoE Councillor Jenny Palmer, Chair of the Council’s Environmental Services Committee, said: “Bin-Ovation is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland and it will provide the Council’s residents with an easy to follow A-Z list of household waste materials and search facility – explaining what can and can’t be recycled.  It also contains information on the Council’s civic amenity sites and local bring bank facilities.  For those residents who might forget to leave their bin out, the App has the facility to send you a reminder to ensure you do not miss your collection. “Not many people are aware that if a recycling vehicle contains items that can’t be recycled then the cost for reprocessing that waste is higher.  By using Bin-Ovation our residents can help to prevent this while playing their part in protecting the environment.  Bin-Ovation will provide direct communications with residents about recycling, alerting them to any new materials that can be recycled and changes to bin collection dates.  It is anticipated that this will help everyone in the Lisburn area to recycle more and thus make a positive difference to...
